Odessa Trodat started her day excited to do a little shopping in Puerto Vallarta. Nearly kidnapped by human traffickers, she was saved by Saxton Blakemore, only to find herself in a bigger pickle; handcuffed and married to him. This created an even bigger problem since her husband was a mule for a drug cartel.

Saxton Blakemore wasn’t happy with the turn of events either. His attempts to help the young woman was not turning out as he had hoped. He promised to get her home in one piece, but each moment spent in her presence, only intensified his attraction to his pretend wife.

In order for them to get out of Mexico alive, they both understood, she would need to be very convincing at being Mrs. Blakemore.

For the most part, I really enjoyed this book as it was very well written. The heroine was smart and had amazing rapport with the hero. The dialogue between the h/H was well-developed, witty and lol funny. I really liked the action and suspense. The plot moved quickly and was well-paced. The author did a great job of building up the chemistry between the two main characters but seemed to drop the ball at the ending, which is what keeps me from giving it 5*.

I thought that all the heat building up between the characters would finally lead to a fantastic coming together. But when the h/H finally get together at the very end, the author devotes all of *one* sentence to describing their love-making, "Saxton was a generous lover and based on the trust they had developed in Mexico, Odessa was able to let herself be free to enjoy her husband". WT?! It need not have been explicit, but I was expecting more, the ending was very disappointing and did not live up to the rest of book.

Being Mrs Blakemore The Blakemore Files Book 1 edition by Olivia Gaines Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

I have read other books by Miss Gaines and was curious about this series! Didn't let me down! Loved the spark between Odessa and Saxton. I was sorry to see the story end. Going to look for the next book!
This was a fun read full of likable characters that you want to hear more about. This short book read more like the intro of a series. I would ask that the author amp up the S-E-X. Given the circumstances and the time frame I understand why that was not possible in this current book but you just know that two beautifully draw characters are just made so some intense and creative love making so don't be a prude and have at it. LOL

Oh yeah. Please do more with Odessa's parents. They sound like a trip and I am looking forward to more. Good job.
This was a fun, fast read and I enjoyed both the H/h. I agree with the reviewer who said the heat was missing after all of the build up. It would have been nice to at least really feel their connection through more than one sentence. Odessa was a hoot and I thought they fit together well. The story really made it fun though human trafficking is totally unacceptable and I would want to do more than shoot the people responsible. I just love the dynamic that this author brings to her characters. I look forward to seeing more involving the Blackmore's and hope it really heats up.
This was a good action packed short story of improbability. The outrageousness of the situation that Odessa was thrust into and the part that she played was over the top, but I still enjoyed the story. It's about a woman who was going to be pulled into the human trafficking scene in Mexico while on vacation, but is saved by Saxton who happens to be a drug runner for the boss' cousin who is trying to capture her. That set off a chain of reactions that led to Odessa to be the hero of the day to Saxton, Renteria (the drug dealer), and the women that were being used for human trafficking. It's a good read if you want something silly. )
(OMG) Olivia Gaines got me hooked for life on the (The Blakemore files books). I am like a drug addict waiting for my next hit which is her next book on the Blakemore. Please don't make me wait to long. If you want some belly laughing, dangerous moment, adventurous time, and some time leaving your mouth hanging open wide. Don't hesitate to buy all the books of (The Blakemore Files). My hat goes off to you. What a wonderful ,great, excellent, and fantastic job you did on this series. Man oh man what a wonderful job well done. You hit the head of the nail with the hammer so many times in the personal of people in your character because you don't mess with my mama neither. But OMG a that not all please get the books and laugh your butt off. Odessa and Saxton is the bomb you will not be disappointed. A great read, lovely books, and will made you smile inside. Olivia Gaines you did a wonderful job on these books, I can not wait until you write the next book. Well I guess I will have to,but I don't mind waiting because it worth the wait.
For a short story, Being Mrs. Blakemore packs quite a punch.
Picture it, a lone woman exploring the streets of a foreign city on vacation, while her cruise ship is in port. Trying to find some authentic Mexican items for her patio back home she ventures off the main drag looking for a side street market. Soon Odessa spots a black car following her. Knowing she was in big trouble and with few options she looks for a way out of this soon to be nightmare. In steps Saxton Blakemore to the rescue. I like that this story was well told. I enjoyed the action and adventure of the characters before they just jumped into bed. The H/h have real chemistry and mesh well together. Odessa is strong, confident and caring. Saxton is funny, charming and a true good guy. This story has it all. Action, adventure and romance. Even Odessa's crazy family will make you laugh out loud. I whole heartedly recommend this story and hope there will be more to come from the Blakemore Files.
Saxton Blakemore immediately knew Odessa was being herded by humans in trafficers. He only had minutes to save Odessa Trodat and he did. They were still not out of danger with the cartel and how to figure out how they would remain alive and get out. He was looking for redemption from a previous rescue gone bad. He and Odessa found themselves falling for one another, despite how they came together, he remained respectful of Odessa. Odessa used her knowledge to charm the head of the cartel and free enslaved sex workers.

Olivia wrote a story that was enjoyably interesting and heart stopping drama. I can't wait to read what their next adventure will be.
